“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
Margaret Mead
Doña Ana County has a large and vibrant
animal advocate and welfare community,
with many different organizations serving
the many different needs of companion
animals and the people who care for
them. None of them can do any of the
amazing work they do without volunteers.

Why should I volunteer?
In 2017 The Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley (ASCMV) received 9,994 Pets. Most were either found without any identification and brought in by Animal Control or surrendered by their owners. Some pets were reclaimed and made it back to their families. Some pets were adopted into new families. Many are receiving a second chance by having been transfered to a local rescue or transported to a rescue out of State. But for 1,194 of them, or 22%, their story ended in euthanasia.
When you volunteer your time, make a donation, sponsor, transport or foster an orphaned animal, YOU make a difference!
